Tooth wear isn't linear. A tooth at 60% wear can look fine but fail fast in the last stretch, especially in abrasive soil. Uneven wear across a tooth row is usually a better warning sign than hours on the clock, since it often points to an adapter or pin issue rather than normal use.

Worth checking before ordering: pin spacing varies between OEM brands more than people expect. A tooth built for Caterpillar's spacing won't seat on a Komatsu adapter even if the profile looks the same, so confirm the adapter brand, not just the tooth style.
